J.E. Jones Elementary School opened in 1957. The school population consists of Early Childhood to 6th grade. One unique feature of the school is the small student population. Most of the grades have only one class. Everyone at Jones is close and friendly and the school has a very family-like atmosphere. Many of the teachers buddy up to meet with other classes to work on academic and technology skills.
Though the school is small, the PTA is quite a force. They contribute to the classrooms, help with field trips, school wide programs, host dances, run the book fair, and sponsor family movie nights.
The J.E. Jones staff works hard to bring many multicultural experiences into the school. The students have enjoyed programs from the Milwaukee Ballet, Ko-Thi African Dance Company, Wave Soccer, Florentine Opera, Chinese Acrobats, DeYoung Family Zoo, and many others.
J.E. Jones promotes student/community involvement. All of the classrooms contribute to book, clothing, and food drives throughout the year. The children truly care about their community.
